A project manager is a project owner and is responsible for the leadership of the project from start to finish. The project manager responsibility is to lead the team and in helping in negotiation in multiple relationships within any project; whether with clients, team members, firm principals or any variety of partners. These partners could be freelancers, contractors or civic committees. With most projects, the project manager will begin working on a project after a contract is negotiated and signed. Although a project manager can be involved in business development, he or she is usually not the person chasing deals and developing new relationships. Instead, he or she works to maintain a healthy client relationship throughout the course of the project. This often turns into a long-term business relationship, but the project manager does not usually initiate it; that’s because business development requires a very different set of skills and significant time away from the office, which is not ideal for the project manager.

After signing the contract,  the project manager will launch a project team with a combination of various skill set and experience, considering the multiple dynamics and logistics that go into any mid-to-large-sized project. Skill sets are important, but personalities are just as important. Personality management is a huge part of any project manager’s job, and it’s crucial to put a team together that are team players.

Once the team is assembled, projects can take any number of directions. Although most projects start with a team kickoff meeting, that may differ depending on the goals and scope of the work. Content Editors are responsible for all aspects of content, which includes development, design, production, presentation, evaluation, and analysis, to name a few. They will use data and feedback from users to help evaluate and enhance the value of a set of written materials and websites.

Videographers are responsible for recording live events and small scale video productions. Unlike cinematographers that specialize in filming movies, videographers focus on smaller productions like weddings, birthday parties, documentaries, commercials and training videos for a company. They may film movies but these are typically limited to short films.

Videographers who work for a company are called corporate videographers. Their role is primarily limited to making video documentation that would advance the business. For example, if they are working for a firm that sells clothes online, their task may involve making a short video about the firm’s summer offerings that would be posted on its website. During the company’s community outreach and charity events, the videographer is responsible for recording the entire event.

Sound engineers or audio engineers work on the technical aspects of sound and music production by mixing, reproducing and manipulating the equalization and electronic effects of sound.

Sound engineers do not only work strictly in music. Some engineers do other areas as designing and controlling the sound at conferences, in theaters, and in any other venue that requires sound projection for an audience. By controlling microphones, sound levels, and outputs, sound engineers combine their well-trained ears with their knowledge of acoustics to produce the best quality of sound for a variety of purpose. Different Types of Sound Engineers

Many people think of the sound engineer as the person who stands behind the big mixing desk at a show and mixes the sound the audience hears. This is also known as mixing the “front of house” sound. But this is only one aspect of sound engineering.

In fact, though, there are 4 distinct steps to commercial production of a recording including recording, editing, mixing, and mastering.

As a result, there are other types of sound engineers with particular roles and specializations. Keep in mind, however, that it is common for all of these roles to be taken on by one sound person at smaller events and shows as having a whole team of engineers is a luxury usually reserved for large, well-funded tours.
